Tolly takes the first step to help with Amphan Relief
Destruction and tragedy surround us after the super cyclone “Amphan” hit West Bengal on 20th May 2020. Many hands came forward to help the state recover, using Amphan Relief funds drives. There were many who stepped in to contribute both physically and financially. All with a desire to help West Bengal regain its former glory. Their contribution shines forth in these trying times. We thank them from the bottom of our heart.

Along with political parties, central donations, and NGO contributions, there were a few people belonging to the Bengali Film Industry, popularly known as Tollywood, who stepped up to help recover. The Amphan relief work done by these folks was truly appreciated by the victims of the storm. The names of the 6 individuals that caught our eye, who stepped up to help, have been mentioned below:
Amphan Relief work by Chaiti Ghoshal
She is known not only for her tremendous acting skills but also for her social awareness. Chaiti Ghoshal stepped in physically to help Amphan survivors. She cooking food for 50 to 80 people. She has commented that it was an experience that truly filled her with happiness.
Parambrata Chattopadhyay engaged in Amphan Relief efforts
The Sunderbans were utterly destroyed by the supercyclone Amphan. Parambrata teamed up with Howrah District Police and Priyonath Manna Bustee Community Kitchen, to help Udaynarayanpur recover. He decided to join hands upon a request made by Rina Khatun, a woman from this village.
Iman Chakraborty
The singer with a unique voice decided to step in to help. She not only distributed ration but also fed poor strays during these tragic times.
Abhishek Roy
This famous fashion designer decided to contribute towards Amphan relief by visiting Kakdwip, Basirhat ]and Basanti. Also joining him were Nusrat Jahan and her team. They tried to provide all dwellers of this region with as much food and water as possible.
Indradeep Das Gupta and Rudranil:
This duo extended a helping hand to the 2000 slum residents in Tollygunge, Golf Green, and Jadavpur. They helped by distributing, dry food, medicines, and Khichuri.
Riddhi Sen
The young actor also contributed to Amphan relief. He joined hands with an NGO and distributed food to survivors. He distributed food to almost 700 people on 23rd May in Madhyamgram.
With so much done by these celebrities, it is no wonder that people from all walks of life have also joined in these efforts. Very soon we believe we shall overcome the challenges and repair all the damage done. Both the central and State Government have been doing their best as well.
