It was their intent to use the information about the Indian subcontinent for their surveillance purposes.
The apps were pronounced by the Indian ministry to be prejudicial to the integrity and sovereignty of India and its defense, security as well as public order. Applications were stated to be malicious by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordinate Centre. They have sent an exhaustive recommendation to block these apps.
Let’s evaluate the reason for such an action to be taken by the government. We see that this response came a few days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech on Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
Launching a ban on these Chinese apps seems more like a response in retaliation to the death of 20 Indian soldiers at the Ladakh Galwan Valley.

Even before the ban was launched, India was already protesting in its own way against China’s unjustified attacks on Indian soldiers. Some were being vocal about banning Chinese products in India. Others were starting agitations and creating uproars related to the matter.
After the ban was launched many patriarchs supported the move. They stated that it was a good decision taken by the giovernement. These social media patriots go on to start hashtags like

#BharatVsChina
And so on. Although it is to be kept in mind that China had previously warned India of repercussions in business by stating that they will replace them with another south-east Asian country in case of such decisions being launched against them.
Some are Unhappy With The List Of Chinese Apps Banned In India:
While the country celebrates the ban of Chinese apps, there are a few who are disappointed and disapprove this decision taken by the government. Their reason being these major apps are their major source of income. Therefore removing and ultimately banning these Chinese apps has caused their content creating career to come to a stand still.
They are at the moment demanding that the government should try creating an alternative for them as life will be pretty difficult with these sources of income being removed. There are several such content creators or more commonly known as tiktokers revolting against this decision, and some even going on record to state that instead of taking decisions as idiotic as banning these apps the government should come down to our houses and remove the presence of all items made in china if they truly wish to revolt against China’s dip into our privacy.
At the moment such well-thought justifications are not being replied to by the Indian Ministry but hopefully, they will look into the woes of these innocent wage earners.
